The thing is, this storm was moving in the same direction… so as I started to head down the road, things started to get more and more violent around me. The winds were to the point of snapping branches off the nearby trees and everything that was getting lifted into the air was spinning in circular patterns. Two car sized gustnados formed in front of me, around three car lengths ahead, picking up the red dirt and then fading away and coming back.

The sky turned almost black, and so I stopped the car and got out. The effect was immediate. It felt like I stepped into a thick hot sauna turned up to a maximum setting, with large industrial fans going full blast. My glasses fogged up, and so I quickly used my shirt to clear them. After putting them back on I was greeted with a sight I’ll never forget. Just above me I saw a swirling circular mass of black clouds. There was a transparent section that was emanating from it, that looked like a swirling hose made out of loose dark cloudy matter. I decided to get back into my car at that same moment.

“Now,” said the professor, as the laughter subsided, “I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life. The golf balls are the important things - your family, children, health, friends and your favourite passions; things that, if everything else was lost and only they remained, would still make your life full.”
The pebbles are the other things that matter like your job, your house and your car. The sand is everything else - the small stuff.

Don't let the stresses of life get you down so early in the year, or any time for that matter. This puzzle game will help you reach that calm state. Be zen and rake a beautiful zen rock garden puzzle while making sure you cover the whole surface. Or choose the "design" option and have your own zen rock garden on your desktop for your own creations. It's less messy than the one that sits on an actual desk, you know. by Lexaloffle

I now have to choose three, from the 24 that I have 'kept' to submit to Heather for consideration to be published in a Blurb Book to be produced out of this project. If any of you have nothing better to do with your time at any point in the next few days, I would appreciate it if you could indicate some opinion about which three I should submit. Obviously I have formulated an opinion on this myself, but I'd genuinely be interested in opinions others have to offer on the matter.

Last Autumn, Heather Champ offered one roll of expired Lucky Super 100 Film available to anyone interested. The film was distributed around the globe, for those who requested a roll, to shoot in whatever way they wished, and subsequently post the results to the Are You Feeling Lucky flickr Group pool. I (some might suggest foolishly) decided to experiment with double-exposure for the first time with my roll, and used the recent weekend in Glasgow for the first run through, returning to Bristol for the second.
the slow progression of the flower head opening - i only hope that i'm home when the pedals stretch out. geranium cuttings on the window sill... they look like mini roses when they first start to open.
the final push - this is when i think they most look like roses - does it matter that i'm comparing to roses, like their special? natural light and the morning sun had moved on - but i like the grainy feeling to these images... soon it will be open

These really haven't changed since the Lightning Sunset days. I wrote an individual paragraph for each of them before I realized that I was just repeating myself from 16 months ago. The common thread here is that they're all tiny apps which enhance the taskbar and the desktop in extremely logical, intuitive, "I can't believe it didn't do this by itself" ways.

I really love this visual style for XP; it's become one of lassekongo83's most popular, and deservedly so. Its most distinguishing feature, one which is inexplicably rare among Windows shell themes, is that it inverts the colors, giving Explorer, Notepad, etc. a dark-gray background against light-gray text. It is wonderfully soft on the eyes, especially late at night.
